State Community College Calculus & Analytical Geometry IV/Multivariable Calculus, Math 254
Course Description (from the College): MATH 254 presents an introduction to multivariable calculus. Topics includes vector valued functions and motion in the plane and in space, functions of several variables, partial derivatives, directional derivatives, gradients, extrema, multiple integrals, line integrals and Green’s Theorem. Course topics have applications to problems in science and engineering. Meets general education requirement for the A.S. and A.A. degrees. Prerequisite: Math 153 with a grade of C or better.

Handouts
Images from Craft Day! We took a day off from mathematics, and tried modeling some problems in 3D, to help the students get a proper feel for the shape of equations and how they interact. And then we used that information to set up triple integrals to calculate the volumes of our 3D shapes. Some of our models show paraboloids intersecting, hyperboloids of one sheet cut by planes, spheres cut (unevenly) by planes, and more. We weren't going for perfect models, just enough to see how things might interact with each other in space.
