What is the story with Lady Taeal?

Lady Taeal, like Swayne, was once a real person who became highly mythologized, and like Swayne, rather deserved it.
Taeal was the first wife of Lord Haelan, the Dragon Lord of his day. The dates of his life are S.Rh. 1420-1468. Lord Haelan was one of the great Dragon Lords at a time when Taera was in deep turmoil. The Ishadi had taken control of the Council, and the Dragon Lord and all those loyal to the Dragons were in hiding.
Taeal was discovered as an infant. No one knows her true parentage. Normally, such a discovery would be most unfortunate--even for someone with power, one could not pass on one's achievements and status to one's children for three generations. But it quickly became clear to everyone that Taeal was a special case. She was a woman, and able to wield magic as the men did. She was the last woman to be able to do so since the Time of the Exile began. She was raised by the Dnalla, and trained in the use of her powers, and eventually had two children with the Dragon Lord.
Taeal is the source of the black hair and green eyes that is so prominent in the Te Daelan family today.
After her death, she was seen frequently in prophecy and in dreams, and her line was able to call on her, even after her 'death' in S.Rh. 1454. It has become the custom of the Te Daelan Family to invoke her in ritual, in place of any of the original Children of Daela; she often appears at their rituals even when not invoked by name. It is believed that she wields the same power that they do. She is also associated with something we will encounter in later books called The Dragons' Circle.
