This is the prequel to In the Shadow of the Dragons, Book I: The Dragons' Gift.
The Children of Daela, Elementals of Earth, have survived for more than ten millennia, and for some seven of them have waged a long and costly war against the Ishada, an equally powerful race of beings who covet their power over the Elements of Earth. Until the end of 2004, though I had started this book some time ago, with a prologue, and about another chapter-and-a-half, very little had been done with the book since.
However, I got back into the book around Christmas time, and completed it in less than six months. Now, I've signed a contract with Author House to publish this book as well. It became available for purchase at the end of August 2005. And this is a much better book than the other one.

I chose to complete this book first, rather than work on the sequel to The Dragons' Gift. I am feeling like sticking with Dagnan for the moment, tie up a few loose ends, before moving on to Draega, who dominates the rest of the In The Shadow of the Dragons series.
I should also like to note that The Dragons' Lord is just the first book in a series itself, called, in cookie-cutter fashion, The Dragon Lords. This series is not as well-connected as In the Shadow of the Dragons. It takes place in the same universe, of course, but each book focuses on a different Dragon Lord at key moments of Taeran history. Dagnan is chronologically but the last to hold this title. While there are perhaps a small number of connected books in this set, for the most part each book focuses on a different person. I have not started working on any of the other titles in this series seriously, however, I do have several plots well-fleshed out. One of them is about the mysterious Swayne who made a guest appearance in The Dragons' Gift.
