History of Linguistics
History of Linguistics, obviously, is the study of the development of the study of language. The earliest linguists known were from early Indian culture and discussed aspects of Sanskrit. Classical European cultures also discussed properties of their languages, leaving us evidence for their pronunciation at that time. This study of the history of linguistics traces the study of language from these early grammarians to modern theoretical controversies.
