| Summary and Reflections: This will be the last term I teach at Cleveland State, at least for a while. As much as I like the school, the commute is really too much. This term I taught high school honors math students in addition to the regular college 118 course. The high school class was not handled well administratively. Some of this was not the programs fault. Low enrollment forced two different classes to be merged, leaving my class with students at a wide variety of math levels from high school Algebra I to PreCalc. This made it nearly impossible for me AND the students to be satisfied with the course: some were in over their heads, and some were bored. We were also asked to try out a new software program called ALEKS which did not go smoothly, and which was thrust on us at the last minute. The evaluations reflect many of these issues. Comments from the Math 118 course were generally positive (peppered with the usual "why do I have to take this?!), but no summary of the numerical ratings were available. Student Comments: The pace of the course was just right. Provided much insight to methods either not explained in the book or poorly explained. [sic]
