Summary and Reflections:
The daily quizzes are working out well, and I will likely continue to do them, though I am beginning to contemplate moving them to an online format through Blackboard, in order to allow more time for group activities in class.  The setup for this will be a challenge, but it would cut down on grading and quiz-writing time in the future, and it would allow students to take the quizzes even if they miss class, or possibly even let them retake them to ensure they know the material.  But this is still being worked out.  Both my classes went really well this summer, though.  Would that they all went so smoothly.

Student Comments:
Betsy is so approachable and makes the subject matter easy to understand.  Betsy always made herself available and accommodating.  I appreciated her enthusiasm and demeanor.

Betsy McCall is the best math instructor I have had.  She explains in detail and helps all students equally. [She] is open to all questions and is able to provide the required time to help each student learn.  The quizzes were a great tool to help me prepare for the exams.

[She] wants her students to succeed.

Email from tutoring coordinator:

Hi Betsy,

I was looking at the tutortrac statistics and found a feature that summarized student comments after tutoring.  Most students don't make any comments, but a couple students complimented the tutor during the time slot you were working.  So I wanted to share the good news with you.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks,

Greg
