Summary and Reflections:
Summer A: DeVry Weighted Average for Comp 100:    For Math 270:

Summer A was a bit crazy.  I was out of town too much in the month of July, I was constantly behind doing grading for all my classes, and what gave for me to catch up was the time I spent in discussions in my calculus class.  I admit that, I expected my evaluations to reflect that.  However, I did my best to make sure that questions were answered, particularly if submitted by email. A handful of students, and one in particular, became upset and made spurious accusations, including sending me threatening emails.  Complicating matters further, the course architect changed mid-course, and when policies changed, some students took that to mean that I didn't know what I was doing.  While most of the students thought I did an excellent or good job, three students consistently rating me fair or poor brought the average down significantly in a small class.  While only four students responded to the survey for the computer class, it did go much more smoothly, and I didn't have problems with anyone instigating trouble.

Summer B went much more smoothly, and I was able to spend significantly more times with my calculus students, responding to questions.  There were still a number of concerns about the length of the quizzes, which I actually have no control over, but these were minor.  The algebra class also went smoothly.  DeVry implemented a new progress report system for the MyMathLab courses, and we'll see how well they work out.
