Syntax

Syntax is the study of sentence structures in language.  Currently there appears to be two dominant approaches to the study of syntax, The Minimalist Approach of Noam Chomsky, and Lexical Functional Grammar, or LFG, which is often associated with Optimality Theory.  LFG, because of it's association with OT is extremely useful for connecting syntactic behaviour to Phonology and Morphology.  Personally, I'm partial to LFG--don't even get me started on my views on Minimalist Syntax.

When doing a search for syntax on Google you'll need to add some linguistic term to your search, either 'linguistics' or just or 'theory' or some specific theory like minimalist or LFG, or whatever other theory is of interest to you.  If you are looking for a specific language, specify that.  Syntax and grammar are both used in the computer field, so if you just enter one or both of those, you will get a lot of false hits that relate to computers.
