Eris

Eris was discovered in 2006, as the article below indicates, it was the discovery of this object, bigger and further away than Pluto, that set the whole astronomical community on fire with the question "what is a planet?"  And it has a moon named Dysnomia, too.  After its discovery, the pair was nicknamed Xena and Gabriele after the popular TV show, but the IAU rejected that as a formal name.
